How does this artwork represent healthy human aging? (Artwork Description)

A smile tinged with sadness. A face full of the wisdom and humour of old age. Ageism! Why is it society cannot see through lines, wrinkles and grey hair and see the beauty in older faces? Why does society think that beauty is a perfect face, perfect teeth, perfect hair? Why is it that grey hair can suggest to some people that brain power has gone? There is a different sort of beauty and history in an older face and I hoped to show this with this painting and that is why I focused on the face without the physical body that accompanies it – the face of experience and a commentary of a life not aided by plastic surgery and Botox (24” x 20”)!
