Title: Connections
Artist: Tamara Grand
Medium: Painting (acrylic on canvas)
How does this artwork represent healthy human aging? (Artwork Description)
“Connections” is a vibrant exploration of healthy aging, drawing inspiration from the concept of “Blue Zones” — regions where people live longer, healthier lives. Its colour palette references some of the key contributors to aging well; deep blues and purples for neural pathways in the brain, reds and oranges symbolizing vitality and physical movement and yellows for the warmth of social connections. The dynamic arrangement of shapes and colours reflects the rhythms of life; ebbing and flowing, expanding and contracting, waxing and waning, ever in motion. Overlapping forms suggest the interplay of personal, social and physiological connections. The juxtaposition of warm and cool tones reflects the balance between solitude and social interactions; reminding us that both are essential for creating a sense of peace and well-being as we age. “Connections” celebrates the interdependence of relationships, community and brain health as cornerstones of an enriching, long life, and invites viewers to reflect on their own connections and journeys towards health-filled longevity. The painting measures 24 x 36 x 1.5 inches.
