Khaled Abdelrahman, PhD
Dr. Khaled Abdelrahman holds a BSc in Pharmacy and an MSc in Pharmacology. His PhD research focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying altered cerebrovascular function in diabetes. During his postdoctoral fellowship, he investigated novel disease-modifying GPCR targets to slow the progression of neurodegenerative diseases.
Dr. Abdelrahman has been honored with prestigious salary awards from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Alberta Innovates Health Solutions, and Michael Smith Health Research BC. Additionally, he has received multiple accolades from the Canadian and American societies for Pharmacology and Therapeutics throughout his career. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and an investigator at the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health. His research, supported by the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, Canada Foundation of Innovation and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, explores the role of GPCRs in neurovascular coupling and cerebral blood flow in neurodegenerative diseases.
