Healthy Aging Visual Art Prize

The Edwin S.H. Leong Centre for Healthy Aging and the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health hosted the Healthy Aging Visual Art Prize, which invited a wide range of entries depicting representations or images of “Healthy Human Aging”.

Our concept of “healthy aging” for this art contest was built upon the World Health Organization’s definition of healthy aging as the process of developing and maintaining the functional ability that enables wellbeing in older age. Functional ability is having the capabilities that enable people to be and do what they value. Importantly, there is no “typical” healthy older person, and this definition of healthy aging does not require an individual to be free of diseases or health conditions.

An Artists’ Night was hosted on January 10th, 2025 to celebrate the finalists of the competition.
