Lecture Title: Genome Instability and Aging
Speaker Biography: Dr. Jennifer Cobb is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology at the University of Victoria. Her research investigates the impact of cellular age on DNA double-strand break repair and nuclear organization. Dr. Cobb moved her research program to the University of Victoria in 2022 and continues to investigate DNA repair pathway choice and the molecular links between Aging and Genome Instability. She has passion for graduate student education and enjoys integrating scientific training with research discoveries. She received her PhD from the University of Tennessee. Her post-doctoral fellowship was supported by the American Cancer Society and was performed at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. Dr. Cobb was a CIHR New Investigator and her lab is currently funded by CIHR and NSERC.
Participants may attend the seminar in-person at the Rudy North Lecture Theatre in the Centre for Brain Health at UBC, or via Zoom. A light lunch will be provided for those attending in person.
