Samantha Schaffner, PhD
Samantha graduated from UBC with a BSc Hons. in Biology in 2016, and is currently a PhD candidate in Medical Genetics in the Kobor lab. She uses omics-based approaches to assess how genetic predisposition to Parkinson’s disease and lifestyle factors affect the epigenome, across a variety of model systems from tissue culture to rodents and human cohorts. Through her doctoral work and beyond, she aims to investigate Parkinson’s disease etiology from an integrative perspective, in the pursuit of identifying early-stage biomarkers and prevention/intervention strategies.”
