Sabina Staempfli

Sabina Staempfli is a PhD student at the University of British Columbia and an emergency Registered Nurse in Toronto, dedicated to improving the health and well-being of patients and nurses through practice-driven research. Her Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)-funded doctoral research aims to reform models of care delivery in long-term care homes to optimize resident quality of life via delivery of safe, effective, quality care. Sabina has trained in realist research methods at Oxford University, acted as Principal Investigator and co-project manager for CIHR and Michael Smith Health Research-funded projects, conducted patient-oriented research with funding from the BC-SUPPORT Unit, was a fellow on an award-winning project on global aging with the UBC School of Journalism, and worked alongside a group of researchers with the International Council of Nurses focusing on resilience and well-being of Advanced Practice Nurses globally.
