Joanne Whitehead, PhD
Following my undergraduate studies in microbiology at the University of Victoria, I completed a PhD in developmental biology at Uppsala University in Sweden, with a focus on epigenetic regulation of imprinted genes. After a postdoctoral position with a biophysics team at the Curie Institute in Paris, I returned to the west coast and the study of epigenetics. My current research revolves around DNA methylation, in studies ranging from aging in marine mammals to stress in primates.
