The Intercontinental Alliance for Integrated Care (IAIC) is a global initiative launched by Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) to address healthcare challenges, particularly those related to aging populations and chronic diseases.
In this project, the UBC IDEA Lab is collaborating with global researchers from Singapore, Thailand, China, Hong Kong, Britain, Brunei, and Canada to examine ageing perceptions cross-nationally. Their project seeks to answer the following research questions:
- How do elderly individuals across different cultures perceive the ageing process, and what factors influence these perceptions?
- How do personal, social, and cultural experiences shape their attitudes towards ageing?
- What differences exist in perceptions based on gender, socio-economic status, or life stage?
- What does ageing well mean to elderly individuals in various cultural contexts, and what factors contribute to their ability to age well?
- How do health, social support, financial stability, and cultural expectations play a role in defining ageing well?
- How do these definitions vary across cultures and within different demographic groups?
Purpose:
The purpose of this research is to better understand how older adults define and experience aging and aging well. Your perspectives will help improve services and supports for older adults in diverse communities worldwide
