Aging in Place Research Cluster launches pan-Canadian study with Native Women’s Association of Canada

The Aging in Place Research Cluster at UBC Okanagan recently launched a pan-Canadian study in partnership with the Native Women’s Association of Canada titled “Aging in Place; a perspective from Indigenous older adults and Elders”. They anticipate that information gathered in this study will be meaningful to Indigenous people and communities, and will be used by them to lend insight into supporting older adults. They expect that the study will generate research knowledge on social determinants of health, and likely contribute to strengthening equity-oriented aging-in-place knowledge and approaches. This will be done through sharing data with Indigenous communities first, then developing knowledge translation that respects individual community priorities, values and cultures. Partnering with National Associations will facilitate aligning with First Nations information governance and sovereignty.
