Gerosciences

Understanding the genetic, molecular and cellular changes that occur throughout the life course and into older age that make aging a risk factor for chronic health conditions and diseases. This focus area transcends disease modalities by seeking to understand how addressing the basic biology of aging may prevent, cure or delay, not one, but all diseases and health conditions that become more frequent with age.

Investigators in our geroscience theme have the expertise and laboratory capabilities to measure a number of biological substrates and molecules involved in aging, including epigenetic marks, epigenetic clocks, microbiome, metabolites, proteins, inflammatory markers, and more. If you are interested in finding a lab with specific expertise search our Investigator list or email us at healthy.aging@ubc.ca
